Sun Am Worship                         So why are we living in Fear?

Text: 1 John 5:4-5  (King James Version)

"Father, I am your servant, willing and desiring to be used to bless your people."

"Most Americans and Christians A like are living their life in Fear!"
I don't think anyone would argue that there is a very real fear factor in the day and age we are live in.

Let me explain
All around us there are threats of violence. We see it in the news all the time. Threats of terrorism, threats of wars, man made threats, natural threats, threats of financial ruin and all sorts of others threats. Those threats cause fear.

I remember back in the 80's and 90's people were afraid of the African killer bees that were coming to America, then we all became afraid of global warming, and last year everyone was afraid of the pandemic swine flu. It seems the news media can really manipulate our fear factor.

Fear can be a disabling emotion. It can hinder a person and stop them from doing the things they want to do or need to do.

Fear in the United States is the biggest reason that over 60 million people in the United States receive prescriptions for tranquilizers every year according to FDA estimates.

Webster's Dictionary defines fear as; anxiety and agitation caused by the presence of danger, evil, or pain. It is a feeling of uneasiness or apprehension.
Let's be honest with each other this morning, we all have something that we are afraid of.

My personal greatest fear is, I am afraid of heights. I am a Pilot with Hundreds of hours, I have flown Hang Gliders, Ultra lights and I am afraid of Height. Yes, It is a fear that I have had to work hard at to overcome.

I had to meet my fear of heights head on so I could overcome it. And yes, I still have a problem with heights.

Another word for fear is phobia. A phobia is an irrational, persistent fear of something.

I looked up some interesting phobias.

Acrophobia - the fear of heights.
Hylophobia - the fear of the forest.
Technophobia - the fear of technology.
Triskaidekaphobia - the fear of the number 13.
Pyrophobia - the fear of fire.
Abluthophobia - the fear of bathing.
Arachnophobia - the fear of spiders.
Claustrophobia - the fear of closed spaces.
Gamaphobia - the fear of marriage.
Pentheraphobia - the fear of your Mother-in-Law.

There are some religious phobias, and I hope none of you suffer from any of these.

Ecclesiophobia - the fear of church buildings.
Homilophobia - the fear of sermons.
Hadephobia - the fear of hell.
Hamartophobia - the fear of sinning.
Satanophobia - the fear of Satan.

Some other phobias that I found interesting were;

Lachanophobia - the fear of vegetables. I bet they hate the Veggie Tales.
Caligynephobia - the fear of beautiful women.
Phalacrophobia - the fear of becoming bald. I may actually have this Phobia.
Scelerophobia - the fear of bald men. I know I have this phobia!

And lastly, there is the fear of everything which is Panophobia and there is the fear of phobias which is phobophobia.

Let's face it there is a lot of fear in the world; fear of getting hurt, fear of failing, financial fears, dying fears, loosing fears, and all sorts of others fears.

People are afraid and fearful but as a child of God we don't have to be afraid. We don't have to live in fear.

1 John 5:4   For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

1 John 5:5   Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

PRAYER
Father, open our  eyes to see Your Word.
Open our ears to hear you.
Open our mind to understand.
And open our heart's so we may receive your word today.
AMEN

For all those who ever felt like giving up, you're not alone. But instead of giving up it's time to fire up, there is something new ahead of you

I came to this house today with a prophetic word for someone, (The fight is fixed)

Good news Child of God, I don't care what you are going through right now, You are destined to win

God has not given us the Spirit of Fear but of Love, Power and a sound Mind!
Look at your neighbor and tell them: (Don't worry any longer God has fixed the Fight in your favor):
Wow what kind of boldness and confidence would it give you to know that you are guaranteed to win, that you cannot lose? That no matter how powerful or how strong your opponent is, no matter what tricks they pull, no matter what their advantages over you may seem to be, you are the declared winner
(and you haven't even thrown the first punch)?
( Well as unbelievable as it may sound it is the truth)
I know it may not make sense (but from a God perspective) victory is (not) determined by the outcome, it is established by the income

(In other words it is established by faith, and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God Ro 10:17)

In other words you can know you have won the fight, before you ever step into the ring,

Tell your neighbor: The fight is fixed.

I don't know what battle you are facing right now, I don't know what enemy might be raised up against you right now, and I don't know what the devil is trying to do in your life today, and I don't know what mountain is standing in your way ( but I came to tell you no matter who you are or what your facing the answer is the same (FAITH)= #1firm belief and trust in the loyalty of a Holy God,
#2 something that is believed especially with strong conviction

Victory is not external, victory is internal.

Men in the world determine victory by what's going on around them, or not going on around them, They determine victory by the absence of external conflict,

But God determines victory by what's going on inside of us. (This is the victory that over cometh the world, even our faith).

Victory Is first of all an attitude: (The attitude of faith)
Attitude from the dictionary means #1 a position assumed for a specific purpose, #2 A mental position with regard to a fact or a state.

When we get Gods word in our hearts it produces an attitude ( A position assumed for a specific purpose and a mental position with regard to a fact or a state

Tell your neighbor you need to get an ATTITUDE

See if this doesn't help you assume a position for a specific purpose, see if this doesn't help develop a mental position with regard to a fact or state or conditions
* We are more than conquerors through him that loved us and gave himself for us.
* Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.
* I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
* No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that riseth against me in judgment I shall condemn.
* And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.

I just believe somebody's getting an attitude adjustment right now.

Victory begins with a decision: ( The decision to believe that God told the truth)
Who hath believed our report and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed. Isa 53:1

(Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus Christ is the son of God.) 1Jn 5:5

Victory is a discipline: It takes a disciplined person to manifest victory, Since our victory is faith and faith is born of the Word, We must discipline ourselves to believe the word regardless of what circumstances say.

like the widow women with her little pot of oil, She went in and shut the door. You have to shut the door to everything that contradicts the word.(You have to shut yourself in to faith) and shut out everything else, (doubt, fear, confusion, feelings, pain, sometimes friends and family).

Victory demands determination: Victory is not a onetime experience, victory is a way of life, it is a Spirit life that is born in us.( This is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith.) Victory is the spirit of perseverance, Victory is the the spirit that stands at the door and continues to knock even though the answer is no.

Victory is the spirit that hears the criticism but keeps on pressing,
Victory is not a life without problems, Victory is a life that faces problems with a promise.

For every problem there is a promise, Victory is the faith that (clings to the promise) until the problem is defeated.

2 Samuel 23:9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
2 Samuel 23:10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and (his hand clave unto the sword): and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

Here is a man who became one with his sword, his hand clave unto his sword, that means his hand became welded to his sword, he held on to the promise until the problem was defeated, and your victory and mine is in becoming one with the word.

Victory is not based upon people, sometimes people actually stand in the way of victory.
As in the case of Jairus Daughter (Jesus put everyone out except Peter James and John)

The old saying is, there's strength in numbers.(That is only true to a certain extent.)

That is if the numbers are in faith, and the numbers are anointed, and if the numbers believe the Promise.

(God does not recognize numbers, he recognizes faith)

Jonathon said: 1Sam 14:6 it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.

Victory is (not) never going through a trial,-Victory is (going through) a trial
1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

Victory is not in never going through a trial, Victory is in How you go through the trial
This is how victory goes through a trial: Victory goes through a trial knowing that it is working for you.
2 Cor 4:17-18 This light affliction which is but for a moment (worketh for us) a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we look not at the things which are seen but at the things which are not seen for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Ro 8:28 And we know that all things (work together for good) to them that Love the Lord, and are called according to his purpose.

Job said it this way:
The Lord knoweth the way that I take and when I am tried I shall come forth as gold. In other words, I will be better for this.

So I just stopped by to tell someone, I don't care what your facing today ( faith has fixed the fight) Faith has never lost a battle, from genesis to revelation True bible believing faith has never lost a battle,

But you say (Pastor) You don't know what I'm going through, I'm going through hell. I've never been through a storm like this before; I've never been through a fire like this before.

(Well you ought to be shouting right now, because you just prophesied your own victory) You said I'm going through, (Say it again so you get used to hearing yourself say it, (I'm going through, I'm going through, I'm going through)

I don't care what the devil does, I don't care what he throws at me, I'm going through.

David Said: Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Tell your neighbor: I'm getting through this

Now slap somebody high five and tell them The fight is fixed,

it may look bad right now but the fight is fixed and at a certain point the devil is going down because he has to.
It may be the first round, the second round or the third round ( But my faith tells me the devil is going down).

Jesus said: Lu 10:19 Behold I give unto you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Jesus said: Mr 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

1Jo 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
And this is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith.

The fact is (as long as the child of God stays in the arena of faith, victory is guaranteed)
Ro 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.

Tell your neighbor: It's just a matter of time.
It may be tonight, it may be tomorrow, it may be a month from now, but that battle is going to end, that fiery trial is going to end, that storm is going to end and when it does you are going to still be standing.
Dottie Rambo wrote a song: I've weathered storms before.
This is not your first fight, this is not your first storm, this is not your first trial, I know it looks bad but your going to make it (I prophesy to you, you are going to make it because the fight is fixed, and the only way you can lose is to not fight in the arena of faith).
So take unto you the whole armor of God, strap on your shield of faith and jump into the ring, the victory is yours in Jesus name. The fight is fixed

Fear does not need to be a part of our lives, in the Word of God the phrase "do not fear" is found 365 times.

Don't be like this woman please!

A woman approached the minister after the sermon, and thanked him for his message. "I found it so helpful," she said. The minister replied: "I hope it will not prove as helpful as the last sermon you heard me preach."

"Why, what do you mean?" asked the astonished woman.

"Well," said the minister, "that sermon lasted you three months."
