Text: 1 John 2:8 - 17   (King James Version)

  "Father, I am your servant, willing and desiring to be used to bless your people."

                            The Fields are white and the laborers are few!
C.H. Spurgeon said, "If God does not save a man by truth he certainly will not save them by lies, and if the old gospel is not competent to work a revival, then we will do without the revival;"

Ill:
There were two doctors with the same name who lived a few doors apart.
One doctor was a Christian and a lay preacher,
The other doctor made no profession of faith.

One night a rather sick person, who was also a Christian,
And wanting help from a fellow believer,
Knocked mistakenly at the door of the non-Christian doctor.

When the door opened the patient asked:
"Are you the doctor who preaches?"

"No", the medic replied, "I am the doctor who practices".
"Oh", said the sick person, "I've always understood the two things were inseparable".

1 John 2:8   Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

1 John 2:9   He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

1 John 2:10   He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

1 John 2:11   But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

1 John 2:12   I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

1 John 2:13   I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

1 John 2:14   I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

1 John 2:15   Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 2:16   For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

1 John 2:17   And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Let's pray.
Father, Open my eyes so I can see Your truth.
Open my ears so I can hear Your voice.
Open my mind so I can understand Your Word.
And open my heart so I may receive all that You want me to receive. AMEN

"Do your actions match your profession?"

What is God's Will?  That none should perish but all come to repentance!

Good doctrine should lead to good practice;

One thing we have in Christ (or should have); Is the assurance that -He is mine and I am his'.

Verse 4:

"Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar,
and the truth is not in that person".

The apostle John makes the simple point;
That knowing God is more than something intellectual or emotional.
You can know all the truth intellectually (i.e. in your head);
You can have emotionally experiences but that is not enough!

The apostle clearly says:
That those who truly know God live lives that are pleasing to God.
In other words they submit their will and lives in obedience to God.

Ill:
"Obedience" is not a word we naturally like;
There's a part of us that doesn't want to obey anyone or anything.

Jesus Warned us in:

Matthew 7:21   Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 7:22   Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not  prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Matthew 7:23   And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 7:24   Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Matthew 7:25   And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Matthew 7:26   And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

Matthew 7:27   And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

If there was ever a time in History Mankind needed God the time is right now!

Look to your neighbor and tell them God is our only Hope!

I believe that God is trying to grab our hearts by the reins and get the message across to quit looking around in fear and start looking up in faith!

Jesus confirmed it in:

Matthew 6:31   Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Matthew 6:32   (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Matthew 6:33   But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:34   Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

I prophesy to someone tonight: Kingdom Signs and Kingdom Wonders are only one step or one decision away.  Look to your neighbor and tell them he is talking to me.

For Kingdom Signs and Wonders to be operating within and without your earthen vessel  by the power of God, You have to lose yourself in Him! God will not share his Glory!

He stated again in:

Matthew 16:24   Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me,  let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Matthew 16:25   For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Matthew 16:26   For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 16:27   For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

His Heartbeat is still on the Harvest! Seeking Him First is Seeking his Will and His will is the Harvest!

Matthew 4:18   And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

Matthew 4:19   And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Matthew 4:20   And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

The trouble starts when we allow ourselves to get too complacent by sitting on our blessed assurance!  We begin to find all kind of reasons and excuses

Luke 9:57   And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

Luke 9:58   And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Luke 9:59   And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

Luke 9:60   Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

Luke 9:61   And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

Luke 9:62   And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Luke 10:1   After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

Luke 10:2   Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

This is what we are truly saved for!

Colossians 2:13   And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Colossians 2:14   Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Colossians 2:15   And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Somebody better shout there is still power in the blood!

Colossians 1:13   Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Colossians 1:14   In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Matthew 5:13   Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Matthew 5:14   Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Matthew 5:15   Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Matthew 5:16   Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We can never do it effectively without the Power of the Holy Spirit!

Luke 24:48   And ye are witnesses of these things.

Luke 24:49   And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Luke 24:50   And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

Luke 24:51   And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

Luke 24:52   And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

Acts 1:7   And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Acts 1:8   But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Matthew 5:3   Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:4   Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Matthew 5:5   Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:6   Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Matthew 5:7   Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Matthew 5:8   Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Matthew 5:9   Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Matthew 5:10   Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:11   Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Matthew 5:12   Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
