Faithfulness – A Key Step to Happiness

Nov 11 2012:                              “Too comfortable to be Consumed!”

Sun AM Worship      I know who I am and I know who God say I am and what God says I can do.

Text 1 Kings 18:24  (King James Version)

“Father, I am your servant, willing and desiring to be used to bless your people.”

The Fields are white and the laborers are few!
C.H. Spurgeon said, “If God does not save a man by truth he certainly will not save them by lies, and if the old gospel is not competent to work a revival, then we will do without the revival;”

                                                      Veterans day 2012

Today we want to honor all our armed service veterans. To you, veterans, we owe a debt of gratitude because you were willing to go, to serve and to give on behalf of the United States of America! God bless you!

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag,
Who serves under the Flag.

As a Christian our lives no longer belong to us and we are in the fight of our lives.

ILL.- Shortly after joining the Navy, the new recruit asked his officer for a pass so he could attend a wedding. The officer gave him the pass, but informed the young man he would have to be back by 7 p.m. Sunday. "You don’t understand, sir," said the recruit. "I’m in the wedding."

"No, you don’t understand," the officer shot back. "You’re in the Navy!".

Jesus, our Commander-in-chief said in Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” What else is there to say?

ILL.- John Stuart Mill, philosopher from London, England, died in 1873, said, “War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight is a miserable creature…

There are some things are worth fighting for: our freedom in America and our freedom in Christ!
                          ENGAGE THE real ENEMY

I Peter 5:8 “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. “

ILL.- An eighteen-year-old apparently took a Seattle police car for a joyride. The theft was reported on law-enforcement broadcasts, and a bicycle patrol officer in downtown Seattle spotted it. A police car immediately gave chase but lost sight of the stolen vehicle after pausing to check for oncoming traffic at an intersection. It was then that a second police car pulled up and - thinking the stopped car was the stolen vehicle - rammed it from behind.

Two policemen in the car that had been hit thought they were under attack. So they pulled out their guns and started shooting. A police spokesperson said the officers involved - two in the rammed car and one in the other - exchanged more than twenty rounds before they discovered their mistake! THEY WERE SHOOTING AT ONE ANOTHER!
Tthis is not much different than some churches. Some church members do more shooting at one another than they do the real enemy.

When we fight with one another we are only helping the enemy. The devil loves church fights,
Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

The greatest need of this hour in this fight f FAITH we are all engaged in is The church to be revisited with New Testament Power and Anointing fire of the Holy Ghost.

The Church is in a sad powerless state and it is going to take more than just words of encouragement from some preacher to get it to stand up. It is going to take desperation and hunger.

Jerusalem means = the place of divine desperation, and dependence.

Turn with me this morning to

1 Kings 18:24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

Let’s pray. Father,  Open my eyes so I can see Your truth.

Open my ears so I can hear Your voice. Open my mind so I can understand Your Word.
And open my heart so I may receive all that You want me to receive. AMEN

Whether you may or may not want to except the fact that we are in a fight for our lives is you dis-belief and misconception

If we are going to make it we need the faire of the Holy spirit of GOD in our everyday lives. The bible states in

Heb 12:29  For our God is a consuming fire.

This is one element I do not care who or what you are will get your attention.

1: Samson and the 300 foxes.

2: Furnace of the three Hebrew boys.

Fire has always fascinated me, it still does (only today my fascination is not with natural fire, it’s with the supernatural fire of God)
And my hearts cry for myself and for the church of the living God is (Lord send The Fire.)
Act 1:5  For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Luk 3:16  John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

Act 2:1  And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Act 2:2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Act 2:3  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Act 2:4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The Fire is heavens solution to our weakness (Our impotency).
It’s heavens solution to apathy, and lukewarmness, and indifference.
It’s heavens solution to worldliness, and materiality, and carnality.

The main thing that indicated the presence of God in The midst of his people was Supernatural Fire of a Supernatural God for our God is a Consuming FIRE.

In the wilderness God Supernaturally Manifested himself to the Children of Israel as a pillar of Fire.

At the dedication of Solomon’s temple the supernatural fire of God fell from heaven and consumed the offering and the sacrifices.

2 Chronicles 7:1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, (the fire came down from heaven,) and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

We talked about the Glory Wed night on How and when the Glory of God will fall!
If there was one thing that I could say the church is more in need of today than anything else I would say (FIRE from Heaven)

There is way to much Artificial in the church and they are calling it the FIRE of God

Num 3:4  And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the sight of Aaron their father.

When we talk about the fire we are talking about that which originates with God and comes forth from God. Nothing that man can do even comes close to it.

This fire is the essence of Heaven that enters the human spirit, sanctifies and purifies and glorifies our being till it can be truthfully said (My Body is the Temple of the Holy Ghost).
In Romans 12 Paul is stating we are the Living Sacrifices

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God

This Fire illuminates, it motivates, it empowers us to do what is humanly impossible.
The Fire attracts:
The Fire Convicts:
The Fire Delivers:
The Fire Devours:

The Fire of God is that which lifts us into the Realm of God where the invisible becomes visible, where the untouchable becomes tangible, the unspeakable is spoken and the impossible becomes possible

First the Fire gets in us then it fills us then it changes us, then it flows out of us.
When the fire of God gets in a man (his words are on fire)
His song is on fire, his testimony is on fire.

When we speak of the fire of God, we are not simply speaking of enthusiasm or emotionalism, or being energetic.
No sir “ We are speaking of that presence of God which embodies and communicates to us all the supernatural dimension of the Christian life.

There is only one thing that will bring cold indifferent worldly minded Christians back to their first love and it is the Fire of God.

I want you to Notice in our text: “There was no repentance until the fire fell
Everything was in Place, the altar was restored, the wood was in order, the sacrifice was slain, but nothing changed until the Fire fell.

This was no gentle, gradual, mild, comfortable, containable, and confined fire:
It was Instant and it was complete and It was Consuming.
It could not be mistaken and it could not be overlooked.
It could not be duplicated and it could not be manipulated.

Elijah saw the need for the fire of God in order to be effective:

Can we look today, at the spirit of this age, and the condition of this society, and the low state of spiritual power in our churches and not agree with Elijah “ We need the Fire”

It is still true (It’s not by might nor by power but by my Spirit saith the Lord).

Elijah Prayed:
Elijah expected the Fire:
Do we expect the fire? Do we anticipate the fire? Do we desire the fire?

How many times do we come to church, expecting another routine service, (open in prayer) (song service) (offering time) (special songs) (preacher preaches and go home).

How long has it been since you walked in the doors, with a sense (something supernatural is getting ready to happen)?

How long has it been since you arrived at church with a divine anticipation that God almighty was going to show up in your midst and life would never be the same again?

Elijah anticipated the fire:
Elijah expected the fire:
Elijah wanted the fire:

How do we know Elijah wanted the fire ? (He made preparation).
(1) He rebuilt the altar – (2) He put the wood in order (3) He placed the sacrifice on the altar as required (4) He poured water on the altar- sacrifice

It’s still true today: No water- No fire:
The fire will fall when the wood is wet.
Most of our altars today are dry, our altars seldom witness tears anymore.

The trench around the altar that would contain two measures of seed, speaks to us of a penetrating work, a deep work, a searching work.
Much of what happens around the altar today is very shallow, and superficial, we are more concerned today with the blessing, than with the transformation.

The Fire Transforms things, When the Fire of God Falls things change, Things are altered, You think differently, you speak differently, you walk differently, you talk differently.

The God that answers by fire let him be God.
Our God still (answers) by fire,

The question is: Is anybody asking for it?

The sad truth today is, generally speaking Christians are more concerned with being comfortable than being consumed.

The fire of God is that undeniable indisputable tangible manifestation of the essence of heaven, that so fills a life that anyone who is looking on recognizes (This is God).

The fire is not religion, it is not religious activity, In fact the fire of God will actually destroy much of our religious activity.

Many times in an (honest) effort to produce the fire, we go through many programs, and activities, trying to hit the right combination.
But when the fire comes all of our programs are un-necessary
.

Because when the fire comes the only program we are concerned about is: How do we keep this burning?
What does God want me to do?

I believe the greatest need of the church today is a fresh fire from heaven, is there anyone who will join Elijah and myself in praying (Lord Send The Fire?)
